New playground at Seward Park makes its debut

KOMO Photojournalist Robin Sarmento was at Seward Park on Sunday, as the renovated play area made its debut.

The new playground features a zip line, tree house-themed structures, climbing rocks and much more. The playground was officially opened at 1 p.m., with music and a magician providing entertainment for kids and their parents. There’s even artwork from Bainbridge Island artist Kristin Tollefson incorporated into the playground.

The wind and rain couldn’t keep the kids away from the playground on Sunday, as everyone was having a great time.

The playground was paid for by a combination of funds from the Parks and Green Spaces Levy (approved by voters in 2008) and money raised by the Seward Park Playground Improvement Foundation (SPPIF).
